November 14, 2024: Salisbury University - Blackwell Hall Renovation
The Eastern Shore Branch toured Blackwell Hall; currently undergoing a large renovation project.
The group was shown the progress by Assistant VP Erik Berkheimer of SU Facility Management Team. Getting to see how a legacy building is converted to one of the first net-zero buildings in Maryland's university system is a great example of what to expect in the coming decades.
August 6, 2024: Mardela Middle and High School
The Eastern Shore Branch toured Mardela Middle and High School; guided by the GC Whiting-Turner.
Mardela Middle & High School is an addition and renovation project set to modernize the 133,335 SF campus. With plenty of attendees that had a hand in the project, the group got a really in-depth crash-course from multiple disciplines' point of view.
April 11, 2024: Proximity Malt
The Eastern Shore Branch toured the Proximity Malt facility in Laurel, Delaware.
The whole group had a great time seeing how this unsuspecting complex (from the road at least) creates some of the finest brewing products shipped all across the country! From intake, to malting, to roasting; the ESB got to see it all. Plus they heard a few stories from the Engineers that worked on the project during construction.
The tour was headed by Matt Musial of Proximity Malt.
March 14, 2024: Wicomico County Sheriffs Complex
The Eastern Shore Branch had a great time last Thursday touring the soon to be completed Wicomico County Sheriffs Complex and Public Safety Building. Getting to see one of the more elaborate and involved structures on the shore was a treat for everyone in attendance.
Special thanks to Major Richardson for fielding all our questions and knowing the ins and outs of the whole construction process.
June 29, 2023: Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Tour
Members and guests got an exclusive tour of the existing infrastructure as well as the ongoing tunnel boring operation. This included the administrative facility, Island 3 with control room and Island 1 where tunneling operations are taking place. "Chessie" was opened up to all tour guests.
The tour was presented by Executive Director Mike Crist, P.E. of the CBBT District as well as several other dedicated CBBT employees that provided invaluable guided commentary.
May 11, 2023: OC Runway Reconstruction
Members and guests toured Ocean City Municipal Airport's (OXB) Reconstruction of Runway 14-32. The reconstruction not only involved replacing and shifting of existing runway and taxiways; but also significant earthwork, shoring, lighting, drainage and stormwater management improvements.
The tour was presented by Derek Hollinger, P.E. of AECOM with assistance from Airport Manager Jaime Giandomenico.
November 10, 2022: The Ross Building
Members and guests toured The Ross in downtown Salisbury. The 14-story and 8-story buildings will represent two of the tallest structures on the Eastern Shore and provide new residential and commercial space to a rapidly modernizing downtown.
The tour was presented by past-president Fernando Garcia, P.E., D.GE of Stable Ground In-Situ, LLC (SGI) and the developers of the project.
August 22, 2022: Wor-Wic Advanced Technology Building
Members and guests toured the ATB at Wor-Wic Community College. This building serves as a model for blending state-of-the-art equipment an teaching practices with the demands of workforce development.
The tour was presented by Adam Leonard of Whiting-Turner and Jeremy Walbert of Becker Morgan Group
April 8, 2021: Somerset County Hiker/Biker Trail
Members and guests walked the newly completed Hiker/Biker Trail; a 4.5 mile trail with parking, stormwater management facilities, forest mitigation, ADA compliance and traffic control.
The tour was presented by Tim Kassir, P.E. and Dion Ho, P.E.; both from KCI Technologies.
August 8, 2019: Surveying the Mason-Dixon Line
Members and guests toured the Mid-Marker located east of Mardela Springs. The tour provided a history of surveying technology and the pioneers that made the profession what it is today.
The tour was presented by Malcolm Archer-Shee; a property like surveyor with 47+ years of experience in cadastral, highway and geodetic surveying. A social was held at 3rd Wave Brewery following the presentation.
June 13, 2019: Somerset County Vo-Tech Tour
Members and guests toured the newly constructed Vo-Tech School. The Somerset County Technical High School brings high quality education and vocational training to area residents; both children and adults.
The tour was presented by Sandra Carpenter and Kevin Parson; both from Becker Morgan Group. Members gathered for a social afterwards at the Great Hope Golf Course.
July 12, 2018: Cambria Hotel
Members and guests toured the Cambria Hotel construction site in Ocean City, Maryland. The Cambria Hotel is an 8-story structure with post-tension concrete slabs. The tour included detailed explanation of PT elements, deep foundation design and quality control.
The tour was presented by Steve Berry of Harkins Contracting, Inc. (HCI) with a social following at De Lazy Lizard on 1st Street.
May 10, 2018: Projects by the Town of Berlin
Members and guests were guided through several projects underway in the Town of Berlin:
Cedar Ave., Maple Dr. and Pine St. SWM Improvements
Baker Street Improvements
Gay Street water and sewer improvements.

March 8, 2018: Tri-County Council Facility (TCC)
Members and guests toured the Tri-County Council Facility (TCC) in Salisbury. The facility is home to Shore Transit whom operates in Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset Counties. Structures include the maintenance facility, bus fueling depot and transit hub.
The tour was presented by Jeff Harman, P.E. of Becker Morgan Group with a YMG social at Tall Tales Brewery following the event.
November 9, 2017: Projects by the City of Salisbury
Members and guests were guided through Salisbury to view the array of projects underway. These projects included:

Amanda Pollack, P.E. and Chris Clasing, E.I.T from the City of Salisbury led the tour with the YMG having a social at MayaBella's Café following the event.
May 17, 2017: YMG Kayak Trip
Members of the YMG go kayaking after a site tour of the 64th Street Boat Ramp Project. The site tour and subsequent kayaking were led by Paul Mauser with the on-the-water activity serving as the YMG monthly meeting.
February 18, 2016: Academic Commons at Salisbury University
Members and guests toured the newly constructed Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons at SU. The $111.4 million dollar project spans over 224,000 SF and is home to a new library, classroom, research and study spaces.
The meeting was presented by Gilbane Buildings Company and Delmarva Veteran Builders.
